How Fizbomap is Different Than Property by Owner of Boise (PBO)

Many customers I’ve spoken with seem to think that Fizbomap is the same type of service as Property by Owner. While this is somewhat true, in that both companies help for sale by owners advertise their properties, there are some very significant differences that are important to note before you choose which company you wish to work with.
Licensed Real Estate Agents
Fizbomap is a division of Genius Realty, a licensed real estate company. This means that when you call and talk to Fizbomap, you’re talking to a licensed real estate agent. Being licensed allows us to legally talk with you about ALL of your real estate related questions.
Property by Owner is NOT a licensed real estate company and does not employ licensed real estate agents. Legally, they are not supposed to talk with you about your home’s value and/or give you real estate advice.
It’s like dealing with an attorney that is a member of the State Bar Association as opposed to dealing with someone just saying they are an attorney… Who would you rather deal with?
Guarantee
With Fizbomap, we guarantee your success. Since we are a licensed real estate company, we are able to offer our customers the option of switching to full service real estate should they need to. When this happens, an agent of Genius Realty takes over and will rebate back to you at closing the amount you’ve spent with Fizbomap (up to $1,500). Pretty slick. You can think of it as a try-before-you-buy kind of service.
This is a service that PBO just can’t offer, partly because they are not a licensed real estate company.
Start out with the great advertising obtained through Fizbomap, and if you can’t get the job done, let an agent from Genius Realty take over. You’ve really got nothing to lose.
Magazine
Our magazine is full color printed on glossy paper with interior shots included. We’ve spent the extra money to make our magazine, and the homes contained within, really shine. You won’t find any other real estate magazine that contains interior photos and that is 12 inches by 12 inches in size.
Property by Owner on the other hand, believes that newsprint with the majority of it printed in black and white is the answer. When was the last time you shopped for something out of a catalog that was printed in black and white? Probably never. Why would you want to advertise your greatest asset in black and white then?
MLS Access
While Property by Owner does offer MLS access, they do so through a third party (Chris Hansen with House of Brokers Home Team to be specific). Who would you call for changes and updates? PBO or House of Brokers? Or, would you have to call both? A bit confusing really.
Luckily, Fizbomap removes this extra layer of confusion. When you opt for our MLS option, you’ll be dealing with only one company, Fizbomap. Have changes or updates? Contact Fizbomap and they will be taken care.
Plus, starting the middle of February all of our listings on Realtor.com will be enhanced, meaning more photos, longer write-ups and more buyers for your property.
Email Marketing
We’ve got over 6,000 emails (including local real estate agent’s emails) that we send monthly property updates to. Our emails are tastefully designed and work to help you sell your home. All of our email campaigns including open and click-thru reporting.
PBO claims they do email marketing to buyers, however I’ve yet to meet anyone who’s received one.
Internet Marketing
Our Internet marketing is second to none. From our feature-packed, industry leading website to our sophisticated third-party XML property feeds, we’ve got Internet marketing covered. We’re young and have grown up with the Internet and know how to use it. We’ve got so many bells and whistles on our site you’ve got to see it to believe it. The other great thing is that we built and maintain our site ourselves. No third party here.
Through our sophisticated XML feeds we’re able to digitally submit your property to many different property sites. Trulia.com, Propsmart.com, Google Base, Craigslist.org, ByOwnerMLS.com and more. Your property will be all over the web. In fact, we are the only local real estate website that shows up first in the Google search results when you search for a street address of one of our Fizbomap listings. Try it for yourself and see.
Property by Owner has some good Internet presence. Their website is provided by a third party vendor, so special requests and needs are tougher to accomplish. They belong to a “FSBO Network” that supposedly gets them more web visibility. Try searching on Google for the address of one of their properties and see what you get.
I hope that I’ve illustrated the distinct differences between Fizbomap and Property by Owner. Hopefully it should provide you with enough facts to make an informed decision about which program to choose.
